The Miracle Riders are home raising $80,659 and the donations kept coming!
Last night, all 11 of our wonderful Miracle Riders returned to Columbus in grand fashion as they made their way on the Return Ride on the Riverwalk that ended at the final Miracle Rider Uptown Columbus Concert. At the special intermission presentation, Councilman Skip Henderson and CPD Chief Ricky Boren welcomed the guys home and thanked them for their safe travels. President and CEO of The Medical Center, Lance Duke, thanked the Miracle Riders for all of their hard work and willingness to “go the distance” for the children of our community. Regional Operations Director for Circle K, Larry Markham and Neonatologist, Dr. David Levine presented a check on behalf of all the sponsors to Lance Duke in the amount of $80,659! Scott then proceeded to tell the audience that if everyone gave just a dollar right then, they would well exceed their goal and money started making its way to the stage! Ralph Kingrey and Ronnie Wilson both pledged $2,500 from their businesses toward the final numbers.
Each Miracle Rider was presented by grateful parent of a patient, Mrs. Dix, with a special Harley Davidson vest that was personalized and had a Miracle Rider 2010 patch sewn on. Afterwards, a special video was shown commemorating the Miracle Riders journey. Concluding the evening, Kenny Townsend and Tim Tucker played for the Miracle Riders a song they wrote and recorded called “Motorcycle Man.” This song can be heard on this blogsite and purchased on itunes. All proceeds will benefit Children’s Miracle Network at The Medical Center. Kenny’s wife Teri has written a children’s book about Scott’s Ride for Miracles last year called “Motorcycle Man” as a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network at the Medical Center. The GE Omni Giraffe Bed that was dedicated last year from Scott’s Ride for Miracles was in memory of their son, Joseph.
It was truly a night to celebrate a tremendous achievement and the Miracle Men that made this happen. Thank you so much for all of your efforts on behalf of all the sick and injured children at The Medical Center. If you see a Miracle Rider, thank him for all of their hard work, dedication, time and commitment of resources. They deserve a hero’s welcome!
Return in the next few days to see photos from their last day, the evening’s video and perhaps even a few last words from our Miracle Riders!
