Day 21 (Mike Hamby)
Wow! The last day to ride. And it looks as though it’s going to be wet. I haven’t blogged much this trip. I guess I felt like the new guys would do it.
As always it never ceases to amaze me how generous people are in this country of ours. They will give you the shirt off of their backs if you ask. And they are blown away when we tell them what we are doing. They can’t believe we would ride for three weeks for a charity. CMN may not be the most recognizable children’s charity, but if we had any effect at all it was to bring awareness to CMN and the plight of children whose parents cannot afford to pay for their care.
Personally, my interest lies in neonatology. These are premiees. They didn’t ask to be born, and they deserve a chance. God makes everyone of them “Wonderfully and Fearfully”. Each of them is a “Masterpiece” from our Father, and he makes no mistakes!
So before you leave to come downtown tonight or before you do anything else, make a financial commitment to the littlest of the littlest. The ones who cannot defend themselves – the ones who might walk up to you in 8, 10 or 20 years from now and say thank you.
It has been a great ride with 13 of the most dedicated men I have ever met in my life. Along with the men I rode with last year I have made 6 more lifelong friends that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
And Scott, his level of commitment to this ride is unbelievable. I look forward to what next year will bring.
And Jenna and her staff were very supportive as usual.
All I can say about Carrie is, you rock Girl. There were no Umatilla’s this year, thanks.
